Get to Know Your City Manager, Dan Galloway

Dan grew up on a farm in a small southern Illinois community.  He then earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Geography and Economics at Western Illinois University. He began teaching in his hometown while he started a family and earned his Master of Science Degree from Southern Illinois University in Urban Planning and Economic Geography.   He then entered the planning and public administration field and spent seven years working with a joint Federal/State planning commission covering a five State area based in Minneapolis MN.  He then made the fortunate decision to move to the Tulsa area and accept a position with the Tulsa District Corps of Engineer as an economic planner for Corps water supply projects.

In the mid 1980’s Dan decided to enter local government administration to work more closely with the public he enjoys serving.   He started his City Management career in Owasso, OK.  He then served nearly three decades serving as City Manager of Clinton, Bethany and Stillwater, OK.  Throughout his City Management he has been an active member of the International City/County Management Association, Oklahoma City Management Association, and the Oklahoma Municipal League.   He has chaired several public trust authorities during his career and served on numerous special committees for cities and towns.   In 2013 he was appointed by Governor Mary Fallin to serve on the Oklahoma Water for 2060 Advisory Council along with fourteen other members to develop State recommendations to enable Oklahoma to consume no more water in 2060 that consumed in 2010.

Dan and his wife Diane are very glad to become a part of the El Reno community.  And they look forward to having their kids and 16 grandkids come to visit El Reno.
